Tenebrous Isle — World Map & Area Order

Tenebrous Isle is the single main setting of Mina the Hollower — broken up into several areas, each with a distinct visual theme, a Spark Generator, and several sub-areas of their own. Your quest is to reach and restore the six failing Spark Generators, each one far from the Ossex hub and guarded by a ferocious boss. You can tackle them in whatever order you prefer.

The structure is hub-and-spoke, much like the Nexus in Demon's Souls: Ossex City sits at the center, and you strike out in a different compass direction for each region. The maps loop gently back on themselves with unlockable shortcuts and a surprising amount of verticality, so backtracking is kept to a minimum. Below is the canon region order from the in-game manual.

Regions in canon order, with each region's boss, Astral Orrery mirror, and train station.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How many areas are in Mina the Hollower?
Yacht Club Games' official "by the numbers" count is 17 areas, but that includes sub-areas and connective zones. The world is organized into six main Spark Generator regions plus the Ossex hub and the hidden Astral Orrery: Queensbury Crypt, Nox's Bayou, Septemburg, Bone Beach, Coltrane Peak, and the final Astral Orrery.
What order should I do the areas in?
The in-game manual's canon order is Queensbury Crypt then Nox's Bayou, Septemburg, Bone Beach, Coltrane Peak and finally the Astral Orrery. In practice the first four can be done in any order; most guides recommend starting at Queensbury Crypt for the Proto Spark trinket, which grants a free revive.
Is the world open or linear?
Largely non-linear. Your main quest is to reach and restore the six failing Spark Generators, each guarded by a boss, and you can tackle them in whatever order you prefer. Nothing is gated behind an item or ability earned from an earlier dungeon — you never need trinkets or special equipment to progress.
How do I know which way to go from Ossex?
Ossex is the central hub, and the fountain in the center of town has six lightbulbs around it — each one roughly corresponds to the direction of one dungeon. Newspapers and the fountain gently nudge you without locking the order.
