Queensbury Crypt is the gothic cemetery in the northeast of Tenebrous Isle, and it’s the dungeon almost every guide tells you to clear first. It’s all “verdant rolling grounds and silent headstones” — until the dead start climbing out of their graves. Locals blame a curse, an overfilled cemetery, or the region’s malfunctioning Spark Generator; restoring that generator is your job.
How to reach it
From Ossex, take the eastern (right) exit into Eastern Heath: Grassland, then push north until you hit Mourner’s Mile, the precursor zone with an iron-gate switch puzzle. Solve it and you’re at the Crypt. Be warned: the heath’s knight enemies feel near-invincible at low levels, so this route doubles as your first real difficulty check.
Why go here first
The Crypt hides the Proto Spark (a.k.a. Proton Spark) trinket. To get it you escort the timid Duke to his casket, and the reward is a free revive that lets you keep your Bones on death. GameSpot is blunt about it: “I strongly recommend doing the northeast generator at Queensbury Crypt first… The Proton Spark gives you a free revive.” That single trinket de-risks every dungeon that follows.
The boss
At the end waits The Duchess of Queensbury: “an eldritch horror, masquerading as the long lost companion of the timid Duke.” Buried under decades of rock and rubble, she rules the posthumous sanctum with a vengeance and guards the Spark Generator. See the full fight breakdown on the Duchess boss page.
Mirror & secrets
The region’s mirror to the Astral Orrery sits in Statue Head Hall — a puzzle room where you carry two statue heads using your burrow. Burrow into the wall-mounted candle there to open the Plundered Cache and reach the mirror. The Ancestral Chamber holds the secret boss Midden.
Next region
Per the in-game manual’s canon order, Queensbury Crypt is followed by Nox’s Bayou (southwest). The first four dungeons can be tackled in any order, but this is the route the game expects.
